Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
OFFBOOK is a script rehearsal and line-memorization tool. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to your data when you use it.
The short version
OFFBOOK doesn't have user accounts, doesn't run its own servers to store your data, doesn't show ads, and doesn't use analytics or tracking software. Your scripts, recordings, and images stay on your device. We don't see them.
What's stored, and where
Everything you create in OFFBOOK — pasted or imported scripts, your saved script library, recordings of a scene partner's voice, and any memory images you attach to a monologue — is stored locally on your device, using your browser's or device's built-in storage. None of it is uploaded to us or to any third party we control. If you delete the app or clear its storage, this data is gone; we have no copy and cannot recover it for you.
Microphone use
OFFBOOK uses your microphone in two distinct ways:
- Recording a scene partner's voice. This audio is recorded and stored entirely on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere.
- Auto-listen and voice-checked drills (available on the web version, where supported by your browser). This feature uses your browser's built-in speech-recognition service to convert your speech to text so the app can check it against your line. That processing is performed by your browser or operating system vendor (for example, Google's speech service in Chrome) according to their own privacy practices — audio is sent to their servers for transcription, not to us. This feature is not available in the iOS/Android app version at this time; the app version uses tap-based and manual review instead, which involves no audio transmission at all.
Camera / photo library use
If you attach a "memory image" to a monologue line, your device's native photo picker is used to select an existing photo or take a new one. The image is stored locally on your device only, and is never uploaded.
Internet connection
An internet connection is used only for: loading the app itself, loading a small library used to extract text from PDF scripts you import, and — on the web version only — the browser's own speech-recognition service described above. OFFBOOK itself does not collect, log, or transmit your personal data to us at any point.
Third-party services
PDF import uses an open-source library (PDF.js) loaded from a public content delivery network; this requires a connection but does not send your document's contents anywhere. Speech recognition, where used, is provided by your browser/OS vendor, not by us, as described above.
Children's privacy
OFFBOOK is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, regardless of age, since the app does not collect personal information at all.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
